Barbados Withholding tax rates
Barbados Withholding tax rates: no single figure applies. The reason is set out below, cited to the governing instrument. Last checked against the official source on 10 Aug 2026.
The withholding taxes Barbados applies to payments to non-residents under the Income Tax Act, Cap. 73 - now largely dismantled: 5% on dividends paid out of Barbados-source income (0% out of foreign-source income), and 0% on interest, royalties and management fees since the 2019 tax reform - each at its domestic statutory rate before any double-tax agreement relief. Administered by the Barbados Revenue Authority (BRA).

| Official source | PwC Worldwide Tax Summaries - Barbados, Corporate: Withholding taxes (reviewed 2026): dividends 5% on distributions out of Barbados-source income (reduced from 15% effective 1 January 2019), 0% if paid out of income earned from sources outside Barbados; 'Effective 1 April 2019, interest paid to a non-resident is not subject to withholding tax in Barbados'; likewise royalties effective 1 April 2019; corroborated by Barbados Revenue Authority, Withholding Tax page |

| Verification | secondary — Corroborated, but the primary instrument was NOT read (usually the publishing host blocks automated access). The 2019 abolition of WHT on interest and royalties to non-residents and the 5% dividend rate are consistently reported by PwC (reviewed 2026), Orbitax and KPMG, but were not verified against the Income Tax Act text or a BRA notice. CAUTION - THE BRA'S OWN Withholding Tax web page still states 'for non-treaty countries, the withholding rate is 15%' and 'generally, the withholding tax on income under the Barbados Income Tax Act is 15%' (bra.gov.bb/Popular-Topics/Companies/Withholding-Tax); that page appears to predate the 2019 reform and conflicts with every practitioner source. The zero rates served below follow the post-2019 law as reported by the practitioner consensus; re-verify against the Income Tax (Amendment) Act 2019 before treating as primary. |

What this value means
THERE IS NO SINGLE WITHHOLDING TAX RATE, WHICH IS WHY value IS NULL. Barbados now withholds only on dividends (and only those paid out of Barbados-source income); interest, royalties and management fees to non-residents carry no withholding since the 2019 reform that converged Barbados's domestic and international regimes. A caller must name the payment type and read withholding_rates rather than expecting a headline figure. ALL RATES ARE DOMESTIC STATUTORY RATES, BEFORE TREATY RELIEF. Barbados's extensive treaty network can only matter where a domestic charge exists (in practice, dividends); applying a treaty is a legal determination rather than a lookup, so we do NOT serve treaty rates. ZERO-RATE ENTRIES ARE DELIBERATE: serving 0 with its citation records that the absence of withholding is the law, not a data gap. Interest on bonds, debentures or stock of the Government of Barbados beneficially owned by a non-resident was already exempt before 2019 (BRA). The series effective_from is 1 April 2019 (the interest/royalties abolition; the dividend reduction to 5% took effect 1 January 2019).
