What this value means

Reference month MAY 2026, published 24 June 2026. All-Items CPI index 124.8, against 119.6 in May 2025 (124.8/119.6 = +4.35%, reported as 4.3%). Year-to-date inflation for the first five months of 2026 was 2.0 percent. MAY 2026 IS THE LATEST OFFICIAL MONTH AS AT CONFIRMATION. The SIB press-release index was checked on 23 July 2026: the two releases after 24 June (15 July — SIB assumes the pro tempore presidency of CENTROESTAD; 21 July — partnership with the Sustainable Development Unit) contain no CPI. There is NO June 2026 CPI release yet, so no newer figure is being withheld. The June 2026 reference month is expected in the last week of July 2026 — re-check https://sib.org.bz/category/press-releases/ then. DIRECTION: inflation is RISING sharply through 2026 — Feb 0.7%, Mar 1.9%, Apr 2.9%, May 4.3% — after a low-inflation 2025. Any cached Belize inflation figure below 2% is stale. Note SIB's own release wording says 'national monthly inflation rate of 4.3 percent'; that phrasing is a house style for the year-on-year change measured in that month, NOT a month-on-month rate — 4.3% MoM would be implausible and the index arithmetic (124.8 vs 119.6 a year earlier) confirms it is year-on-year. Do not re-serve it as MoM. Belize's CPI is a single national index (no separate regional headline series published in the press release).
