Feriados IRRENUNCIABLES (Ley 19.973 — workers in commerce cannot be required to work): 1 Ene (Año Nuevo), 1 May (Día del Trabajo), 18 Sep (Independencia), 19 Sep (Glorias del Ejército), 25 Dic (Navidad). Día Nacional de los Pueblos Indígenas is set on the southern winter solstice by Ley 21.357 — 21 Jun in 2026. Movable feriados (Ley 19.668): San Pedro y San Pablo, Encuentro de Dos Mundos and Día de las Iglesias Evangélicas can shift by weekday — for 2026 they fall on their nominal dates (29 Jun and 12 Oct are Mondays; 31 Oct is Saturday, no shift). Regional-only feriados (e.g. 7 Jun Arica, 20 Ago Chillán) and the 31 Dic feriado bancario are excluded as they are not nationwide. Fiestas Patrias 18-19 Sep fall Fri-Sat in 2026; no additional national feriado was enacted. 2027 EXTENSION (2026-07-30): 17 national feriados. THE TRANSFER RULE IS LEY 19.668, not Ley 19.973 (which is the feriados-irrenunciables law and moves nothing), and its direction is asymmetric: a listed day falling on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday moves BACK to the Monday of the same week, and one falling on Friday moves FORWARD to the following Monday, while Saturday, Sunday and Monday occurrences are not moved. Ley 20.983 triggers this year: it makes Friday 17 September a feriado whenever 18 and 19 September fall on Saturday and Sunday, which they do in 2027 (its second limb, the 2 January case, does not apply because 1 January 2027 is a Friday). Ley 20.299 does NOT trigger: it moves 31 October only when that date is a Tuesday or Wednesday, and in 2027 it is a Sunday.
