Nicaragua minimum wage

Nicaragua has NO single national minimum wage. Under Ley N.º 625, Ley de Salario Mínimo (La Gaceta N.º 120 of 26 Jun 2007), the tripartite Comisión Nacional de Salario Mínimo (government, employers, unions), convened and chaired by the Ministra del Trabajo, fixes a MONTHLY minimum per ECONOMIC SECTOR; the fixing is then promulgated by MITRAB acuerdo ministerial. Art. 4 of Ley 625 requires the Commission to be convened for each new period. The value below is the full sectoral schedule; the floor is the agropecuario rate.

What this value means

Figures transcribed from the scanned, signed acuerdo itself. CORRECTIONS TO PRESS/AGGREGATOR REPORTING: (1) several outlets print the agropecuario floor as C$6,198 — the signed table says C$6,188.02; (2) several print industria manufacturera as C$8,320.38 — the acuerdo says C$8,320.48; (3) widely repeated claims that zona franca was 'excluded' from the 2026 adjustment are wrong — 'Industria sujeta a régimen especial' IS in the table at C$9,986.46, and Artículo 1 of the acuerdo expressly ratifies a 6.7% rise for it under the multi-year zona-franca accord. It simply runs on a different calendar: per footnote 2/ and Artículo 4, the régimen-especial rate is vigente 1 Jan 2026 – 31 Dec 2026, while every other sector runs 1 Mar 2026 – 28 Feb 2027. Agropecuario is 'salario más alimentación' (footnote 1/): the employer must also provide food. Artículo 2: where pay is piece- or output-rated, the measurement units must be held constant and each operation revalued. Artículo 3: no employer may cut pay that is already above these floors. Artículo 5: MITRAB must reconvene the Commission in the first week of February 2027 — hence the ~365-day cycle, with the next schedule expected effective 1 Mar 2027. ACCESS PROBLEM: mitrab.gob.ni serves only over plain HTTP (HTTPS not offered), the Plone rendering port :8080 that search engines index refuses connections, and the acuerdo PDF is an IMAGE-ONLY SCAN (three JPEG pages, zero extractable text) — a text-diffing watcher will see nothing. Watch the file's byte size/ETag at http://www.mitrab.gob.ni/documentos/acuerdos/PDF.pdf instead, and note the filename is generic ('PDF.pdf'), so it is overwritten in place each year rather than versioned.
