What this value means
The Order amends the Minimum Wages Order, 2014 (L.N. No. 402 of 2014) by deleting 'seventeen dollars and fifty cents' wherever it occurs and substituting 'twenty dollars and fifty cents', and replaces the First Schedule with: daily rated (8-hour day) $164.00; weekly rated (40-hour week) $820.00; monthly rated ((40 hours x 52 weeks) / 12 months = 173.3334 hours) $3,553.33. The hourly figure is the operative statutory rate — the daily/weekly/monthly figures in the First Schedule are arithmetic derivations of it and should not be treated as independent minima for shorter or longer schedules. The rate applies equally to migrant workers with the right to work. Announced in the October 2023 (fiscal 2024) national budget; the previous rate of $17.50/hour had run from 1 December 2019. NO CHANGE SINCE: a scan of the official e-Gazette Legal Notices indexes for 2024, 2025 and 2026 to date found no further Minimum Wages Order, so $20.50/hour remains in force as at 23 July 2026. ACCESS NOTE: the Ministry of Labour page labour.gov.tt/minimum-wage-increase states the rate and effective date but exposes no link to the gazetted instrument in its served HTML — point watchers at the printery.gov.tt e-Gazette Legal Notices index (https://printery.gov.tt/e-gazette/), not at the Ministry page. From 2026 the printery names files 'Legal_Notice_No._N_of_2026.pdf' (underscores) rather than the 2023-25 spaced-and-titled convention, and the directory index no longer shows instrument titles — notices must be opened to identify.
