What this value means

Reference month June 2026, released 16 July 2026 — the latest available at confirmation. All Items Index 126.0 (2015=100), up 0.3 points or 0.2% on May 2026; YoY 0.3%, unchanged from May 2026 and well down on the 1.5% recorded for June 2025/June 2024. Food and Non-Alcoholic Beverages rose 1.4% on the month (152.9 in Dec 2025 to 156.9 in Jun 2026), the only large mover; Clothing and Footwear +0.1%, all other sections unchanged. Inflation has run in a very narrow 0.3-0.7% band through 2026, which is what the CBTT means by 'well-contained' in its June 2026 MPA. NAMING TRAP: the CSO's own series is the INDEX OF RETAIL PRICES (IRP); the Ministry of Planning press releases title it 'Consumer Price Index'. They are the same series — do not treat 'RPI' and 'CPI' as two Trinidadian indices. ACCESS NOTE: cso.gov.tt returned HTTP 403 to automated fetches at confirmation, and the CBTT's price-aggregates statistics page (central-bank.org.tt/statistics/selected-aggregates/price-aggregates) returned HTTP 404 — the reliable machine-readable path is the Ministry of Planning news post, whose URL follows the pattern /newsite/consumer-price-index-<month>-<year>/. Next release: July 2026 CPI, expected around mid-August 2026 (recent releases have landed 16-24 days after month end).
