What this value means

USD 482.00/month for the trabajador en general effective 1 January 2026, a USD 12 (~2.55%) increase over the 2025 SBU of USD 470. Fixed by Acuerdo Ministerial MDT-2025-195, signed 15 December 2025 and published in the Suplemento del Registro Oficial No. 187 of 18 December 2025. Unusually, this was a tripartite CONSENSUS (government, employers and workers in the Consejo Nacional de Trabajo y Salarios) — the first agreed (non-imposed) SBU in almost a decade. The SBU also applies to workers of small industry, agricultural workers, maquila workers, remunerated domestic workers, artisan operators and microenterprise collaborators; separate higher 'salarios mínimos sectoriales' per industry are fixed by a companion acuerdo. The SBU is the base for many statutory amounts (e.g. fines, social-security floors). Next revision expected December 2026, effective 1 Jan 2027.
