Ecuador policy interest rate
Banco Central del Ecuador (BCE) policy interest rate. Ecuador has been fully dollarized since 2000 (US dollar is legal tender); the BCE cannot issue currency or act as lender of last resort and does not conduct conventional monetary policy, so no policy interest rate exists. The BCE only publishes market-average 'tasas referenciales' (referential rates), which are statistical benchmarks, not a policy instrument.

What this value means
Served as null on purpose — this is a structural null, not missing data. Ecuador abandoned the sucre and adopted the US dollar under the Ley para la Transformación Económica del Ecuador ('Ley Trole', Registro Oficial Suplemento 34, 13 March 2000); full dollarization was completed in September 2000. Because the BCE cannot create money, it sets no policy rate and conducts no conventional monetary policy (no OMOs, no policy corridor); domestic rates are anchored to US dollar conditions plus country risk. What the BCE DOES publish, weekly/monthly, are REFERENTIAL rates — weighted market averages of rates reported by financial institutions, used as legal benchmarks (e.g. the 'tasa legal' for contracts): for July 2026 the tasa activa referencial (productivo corporativo lending) is 6.91% and the tasa pasiva referencial (weighted average term-deposit rate) is 5.19%, per the BCE tasas de interés page (contenido.bce.fin.ec). These are market-calculated statistics, NOT a policy rate, and are reported here only as context. Regulated rate CEILINGS (tasas máximas) per credit segment are set by the Junta de Política y Regulación Financiera, but a usury ceiling is not a monetary-policy rate either. This null is expected to persist indefinitely while dollarization lasts.
