Bolivia BCB policy rate (none — quantity-targeted monetary regulation)

Bolivia BCB policy rate (none — quantity-targeted monetary regulation): no single figure applies. The reason is set out below, cited to the governing instrument. Last checked against the official source on 20 Jul 2026.

Banco Central de Bolivia (BCB) policy interest rate. Bolivia has never announced a single conventional policy rate: under its charter (Ley 1670 of 31 Oct 1995) the BCB conducts monetary policy through a quantitative Programa Monetario — flow targets for emisión monetaria, crédito interno neto and reservas internacionales netas — executed with open-market operations (letras/bonos de regulación monetaria), encaje legal (reserve requirements) and collateralized repo/liquidity windows (Fondo RAL). No policy interest rate exists to serve.

What this value means

Served as null on purpose — structural null, not missing data (Ecuador/Argentina precedent). The BCB's operating framework is QUANTITY-based: the Programa Monetario Modificado 2026 (loaded and read in full; it is an image-set PDF with no text layer) sets 2026 flow targets in millions of bolivianos for emisión monetaria, crédito interno neto (including a 'regulación monetaria' absorption line of Bs -22,710 million) and RIN, and states the program 'mantiene la orientación contractiva' — a contractionary stance reaffirming commitment to price stability after 20.40% CPI inflation in 2025. It also records the consolidation of the 2026 unificación cambiaria (exchange-rate unification under the Paz administration). Instruments, per BCB publications: OMO auctions of letras/bonos de regulación monetaria, encaje legal, and repo + Fondo RAL liquidity windows; in Nov–Dec 2025 the BCB announced a 'new monetary policy design', widening MN letra supply, reordering repo and OMO rates toward longer maturities and a lender-of-last-resort role — a drift toward an interest-rate corridor that has NOT yet produced an announced policy rate. Context rates displayed on bcb.gob.bo when loaded 20 Jul 2026: tasa base de reporto (15-day, MN) 12.75% and TRe MN (tasa de referencia, a market-derived deposit-rate benchmark used for loan repricing, not a policy instrument) 3.61% — reported here as context only; never substitute them for a policy rate. BCB publishes a Minuta de Política Monetaria page but it contains no rate decisions. Re-verify trigger: if the BCB formalizes a policy rate/corridor under the announced redesign, replace this null with the genuine instrument. Access quirks: BCB PDFs are image-based; silep.gob.bo (state legal-info system) timed out (DNS).
