Statutory base: DS 2750 Art. 2 lists the ten national holidays (1 Jan; 22 Jan; Lunes y Martes de Carnaval; Viernes Santo; 1 May; Corpus Christi; 21 Jun per DS 173/2009 — renamed Año Nuevo Andino Amazónico Chaqueño by later amendment; 6 Aug; 2 Nov; 25 Dec); DS 2750 Art. 3 adds a standing Sunday→following-Monday shift rule with lettered exceptions (incl. the movable feasts and 2 Nov). 2026 APPLICATION per DS 5521 (13 Jan 2026, signed Rodrigo Paz Pereira, tourism-promotion decree): Art. 4 moves Thu 22 Jan → Fri 23 Jan and Sun 21 Jun → Mon 22 Jun (the June move coincides with what DS 2750's Sunday rule would produce; the January move is 2026-specific — 22 Jan itself is NOT a rest day in 2026); Art. 3 declares one-off additional national holidays Fri 5 Jun and Fri 7 Aug, making Corpus Christi and Independence two-day holidays in 2026 (nine long weekends in total). DS 5521 Art. 2 also declares 27 September 'Día Nacional de la Integración Boliviana' expressly WITHOUT suspension of activities — deliberately excluded from the array. Watch: the government now issues an annual traslado/addition decree — re-check each January for the following gestión. 2027 EXTENSION (2026-07-30): the 11 permanent holidays of Decreto Supremo 2750 art. 2, including Carnival Monday and Tuesday, which are statutory in Bolivia and need no annual decree. The DS 2750 art. 3 transfer rule moves a holiday to the following Monday only when it falls on a SUNDAY (excluding Carnival, Good Friday, Corpus Christi and 2 November): NO national holiday falls on a Sunday in 2027, so no transfers arise - unlike 2026, when the Andean New Year fell on a Sunday and moved. The Andean New Year is fixed at 21 June and is not otherwise movable. NOT INCLUDED: the additional tourism 'puente' days that Bolivia creates by annual Decreto Supremo (the 2026 instrument, DS 5521, both shifted dates and created two extra non-working days); no 2027 decree existed as at 30 July 2026, and bridges around 26 March, 27 May and 6 August are plausible by precedent but are not served. Also note that 27 September ('Dia de la Integracion Boliviana', created by DS 5521) is an annual observance WITHOUT suspension of work and is therefore not a holiday.
